This latest issue of our newsletter is  a special edition dedicated to some of the success stories of the programme. Whilst the Technical Assistance component of the Programme came to an end on 25 July 2022, the regional components are still ongoing. The stories compiled here form the basis for many more achievements in the ongoing efforts to address climate change.

OVERVIEW OF THE KEY OUTCOMES OF COP26

From the OACPS perspective, the Outcomes of COP 26 are modest, with some encouraging signs, rather than concrete outcomes on mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage, as the OACPS had called for. Stronger approaches are needed to hold all actors accountable for the commitments made in Glasgow, and for agreeing on concrete implementation modalities.

Profile

The Programme’s objective is to strengthen the ACP countries’ capacity to build resilience to climate change, mitigate its effects, and adapt at the national and regional levels. It also supports the ACP region and countries to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of a changing climate. The programme is a €70 million initiative of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States. It is funded by the 11th European Development Fund (EDF). Of this amount, €65 million has been allocated to the regions. Another €4.5 million has been allocated for institutional support, including the ACP Secretariat and the Intra-ACP GCCA+ Climate Support Facility.
